Can You Save Money Using A Generator Powered With Cooking Gas?
If you are still finding it too expensive to run your home or office generator because of the escalated cost of petrol/gasoline then I have good news for you. Recently Nigerians developed an interest in a special generator spare part. It is a spare part assembly technically called an LPG conversion kit. The kit contains a device which is made up of a pre-assembled gas-pressure regulator and a carburetor that has been proven to make a gasoline generator work from cooking gas!
The device when installed correctly will make your generator work from either petrol or gas.
Now, everybody knows that cooking gas (also called propane, LPG – liquefied petroleum gas – or natural gas) is more readily available and cheaper in Nigeria than petrol/gasoline. A gas generator will live longer than an equivalent petrol-powered generator because burning of propane gas is cleaner and so does not accumulate carbon in your carburetor. Furthermore, the chance of carbon monoxide emission is greatly reduced so there’s very slight chance of anyone getting suffocated, especially if the generator is used outdoors.
What’s more, there is no loss in the capacity of your generator. For example, if your generator provides a maximum of 3KVA while running on petrol/gasoline, it provides exactly 3KVA while running on cooking gas.
Now you can just purchase a portable 12.5kg gas cylinder, a hose and the device mentioned above. You can convert your existing generator (supposing its capacity is in the range of 2KVA – 9KVA) and save yourself between 4000 Naira to 7000 Naira, depending on your load and the capacity/KVA of the generator.
Even if you do not currently own a generator you can just purchase a complete pre-installed gas generator like that shown in the picture above, start it and enjoy an efficient, less-noisy and non-harmful source of electric power. If installed correctly by an expert and an original converter is installed for you, you will discover that a gas generator is actually safer that a petrol generator.
Gas is only hazardous when used indoors. Very often before gas can cause hazard, a very large quantity of it has to be released and concentrated in a small volume of air. This cannot happen if you use your generator outside your house. Even if a leakage occurs somewhere, for example along the hose, the leaked gas will simply be mixed with the air. So there is a very slim chance of the gas causing a fire outbreak.
If you are an entrepreneur or businessman in the technical sector then you can make extra money selling an LPG conversion kit. If you have trained hands who know how to install the kit for your customers, you can make even more money
