Hidden Opportunities for Entrepreneurs:
One of the main reasons why many people pass through financial struggles is because they learnt nothing about money when they were in school. The result of this is that they always work for money instead of making money to work for them. Fortunately there are a couple of genuine but hidden opportunities that you can take up as a young entrepreneur.
When you look at the large number of tertiary institutions in the country, you’ll observe that the thousands of graduates of various disciplines that are turned out every year become unemployed. This unfavourable development is a subject of discuss among many interest groups in the country who believe that there is urgent need to introduce entrepreneurship skills into our school curricula right from high schools.
You probably have observed that lack of entrepreneurial skills is one of the most important reasons why a large number of Nigerian graduates are not creative enough to contribute to the country’s socio-economic growth. Studies have shown that countries like Japan, United Kingdom, China and USA became economically successful because a large number of the citizens of these countries have entrepreneurship skills.
Global recession is no longer a new phenomenon. It comes and goes and has happened to many countries. However remember that nothing lasts forever. Global recession, economic challenges like hike in the prices of petroleum products and other economic tsunami come and go, and when they do, they carry many casualties along, that is people who could not find anchors to hold onto when the raging current of economic tsunami passes by.
In the midst of these challenging situations some individuals, small and large companies are still able to survive. They do not give in but stand even taller than ever. But wait a second. How do they survive these harsh economic times?
In times of economic challenges like we have right now, some people are rational in their spending while some are irrational. In this hard time, there are still some people who discover what to do while others are still looking for what to do. You need creativity to break a new ground. With your creativity, you can innovate a new product or service that is cost efficient and cost effective which will continue to soar in Nigerian business community. Through formal or informal researches, observations, interviews, feedback and listening to successful people with keen interest, you can create a product or service that people will continue to buy as long as it meets their cravings and is high on their priority.
Do You Work Hard or Smart?
If you work very hard, that is, work with all your energy, all your body or your entire physical being but you don’t do so with so with wisdom, intelligence and resourcefulness, you will become more of a slave than a master! Success comes by careful plan, wisdom, intelligence, resourcefulness and the choice you make. If success were to come by only hard work, then the most successful people in the world would have been found among excavators, road construction workers and other people involved in energy-demanding jobs.
There’s nothing wrong with working hard but you must work smart by keeping your wisdom, intelligence and resources intact.
